While we knew that we wanted better “flow” and a more open layout, we weren’t sure exactly how we wanted to layout the kitchen. Once we had the floor plans generated, and had determined with 100% certainty that it was possible to remove the load bearing walls and to what degree, we started working on a layout for the new kitchen.
The existing kitchen looked something like this:
I worked with a kitchen designer friend at Home Depot. After many many many hours (thanks for your patience Nancy) we came up with this:
Even though we got rid of the island (we couldn’t build the new kitchen to code with an island) and made the kitchen more narrow we end up with more space, and more cabinets.
